I often can't understand why some movies get such low reviews when the movie is a story being told as fiction. I think people to often judge a movie by how they think it compares to real life. A good movie is simply a movie that entertains, if it's far fetched and has holes, that doesn't mean it a lousy movie. Bad Roomies is just a crazy story that gets out of hand. How is it any different to something like There's something about Mary? Maybe the acting was better, maybe not, but both movies used an outrageous series of circumstances to get to the end. The three stooges, and Abbot and Costello were even more outrageous and had more holes than a stop sign in Kentucky, but they get high marks? Bad Roomies does exactly what such a movie hopes to achieve, a story that is funny in whatever way, and gets to the end in its own amusing way. It's not Gone with the Wind, and it never intended to be another Gone with the Wind.

If you're looking for a light-hearted fun comedy that you won't have to think too much about, this is not it. It's not Neighbors or an Adam Sandler film or something like that. It's more of a clever dark comedy. The film makers wanted to make more than just a mindless film, and I really appreciate the attempt.
Now each scene separate to me is actually well written and well acted, and if I had seen them like that instead of as one continuous film, I would have laughed my butt off and been pretty entertained. But that's the thing. The movie feels like the writers wrote each scene separate and then strung them all together without much thought to how the pieces fit, leaving a lot of things (like the way the characters acted, the random things that happened, etc.) very inconsistent and sacrificing a potentially solid story. And by the end, I'm left thinking, "Oh this could have been so awesome man!" But nope :/.
Aside from how the scenes are put together, there are things about the premise of the film really don't make sense, like how the roommates own the beautiful house without either of them seeming like they earn enough $$ (and I think this film would've worked even better if it was in a normal apartment), how they are even best friends (the crazy psycho paranoiac entitled brat guy vs the normal nice chill guy - to me, in the real world, the only way that would work is if the nice guy had amnesia every minute or felt sorry for the guy and was friends with him out of pity, neither of which the film puts him out to be), why the girl attempted to seduce both of them when she clearly just liked one of them, etc.
And then there's the twisted moral code of the film that makes it seem like the girl roommate (Chloe) was actually in the wrong when she didn't really do anything wrong, and that what the guys were doing back at her was totally fine in this harmless game of playing fire with fire when really, it was incredibly childish and pretty sick sh*t.
All in all, this film had such awesome potential but wasn't given enough time to reach that potential, so yeah. I wish it did. It's not a good clever comedy nor is it a fun mindless film, which makes it kind of pointless to watch. But anyways, it's not horrible, and I think everybody deserves some credit, and I don't think you'd regret it too much if you watched it, and I'm actually looking forward to seeing all the people involved grow to make better films.

So, like the headline says I think the concept is good and interesting but the story line was all over the place and fell flat. It focused on to many different things that were kind of irrelevant. On a comedy standpoint their was some good chuckles but overall not really a comedy.

At the beginning this movies feels like a YouTube video has gone long. Its missing a cinematic quality I've grown accustomed to from years of watching real movies.
The dialog do not sound natural and I believe the actors know about this too, they do not have the conviction of what come out of their face mouth. And also the both male characters are not likable with this movie, but this could just me one man's option.
To summarize,
Don't watch it, you don't need to, you're going to get nothing out of it unless you're a film student, if you're a film student then this level of work might just be perfect.

I am surprised this movie didn't get more attention and better ratings. I watched it without any expectations and it ended up being really funny.
It starts as a light comedy but then things go darker and darker until the high peak of darkness towards the end. And even to the last scene it makes one have a laugh.
Great performances from them all. Patrick Renna and Annie Monroe also got pretty unique characters which they nailed all the way.
It has it all, some sarcasm, hilarious jokes, twists and it keeps one interested in what is coming next from scene to scene.
Although it also reminded me of why I never want to have roommates again.

This movie was such a disappointment. I started ok and just went downhill from there. The ending was almost ok until they didn't even get away with it and at that point I just couldn't take it anymore. The shroom bit was funny, but even that could have been done better, with some special effects for example.
Overall the concept of the movie was good, but the writing was bad and unoriginal. Whoever wrote this should stop writing scripts.

I started this movie, thinking it would be a classic raunchy/semi-satirical comedy of 21st century. I was quickly proved wrong. Overall, I give "Bad Roomies" a 3 out of 10 star rating. This film started out funny, I'll admit. A lot of the jokes were funny, the stuff they did was comical, and a lot of the lines were very well/cleverly-written. The cinematography was also pretty dang good; it was shot very well, with a good usage of natural lighting. Then, the movie got confusing. Then, stupid. Then, in the second half of the film, everything was very confusing, weird, and kind of stupid. I did not enjoy this movie very much overall; it was a WASTE OF TIME and I really don't understand other watchers of this movie that say it was any good.

Poor writing and very bad plot created a stew of disaster. Patrick Renna's character was a highly insecure jerk who thought way too highly of himself. His best friend, played by Tommy Savas was clam and collected. Them together was odd, on one hand you have a guy that desperately needs to see a doctor for his irrational behavior and someone who seemed pretty awesome. I don't see that in real life. normally you can only take so much of someones BS. At one point you think you know whats going on and at the other end your confused. The lady who didn't do anything wrong was being belittled and torn apart because someone didn't know how to handle his emotions. I gave it a two because she seemed to be able to handle her own. overall I would watch it again if I was needing to torture someone.

Thought I would give this one a chance after reading the other few reviews, I have no idea what film they watched but this was a waste of 1.5hrs of my life.... The plot is kinda obvious two lads getting a new room mate so pick the hot blonde from a selection of random males, they end up having a drunken threesome no surprise there it all turns to sh*t. It basically ended up with the most random pointless ending where I'm guessing the writers didn't have a clue where to go with it! I've got to be honest I don't actually think there was one section in the whole film where I actually cracked a laugh, maybe I just missed the jokes but I'm pretty sure they just didn't exist. I've only given it a 4 star vote as I managed to watch it until the end so I thought it needs some credit for that.
