Atrangi Re [Hindi]

Anand L Rai, I've always been a fan, but this time he blows me away with his sheer mental strength, and understand the reason, why he is so highly rated among the stalwarts of creativity. After Zero, a movie with ambition so huge, that even the biggest star of the nation couldn't deliver, and gets bombarded with so much hate and financial losses (in short term), I would have expected him to take a safe, less ambitious project, and d justice, in the manner that has now become his signature with Raanjhana and others. But, instead of this, he goes on to take the same team, and make another super ambitious project, this time a musicale with AR Rehman at the helm, and goes out to make this gem of a movie, that stays true to his style of filmmaking, just on a scale never seen before. Atrangi Retries to create a world and take you in it to enjoy and appreciate the depth, and music, as expected keeps you on the ride throughout. The perspectives of the characters are strong, and carried out with authenticity for the most part, except maybe Akshay Kumar in his brief stay. Dhanush was in another league though. Had another watch for the masterpiece, the very next day of the release and the first watch. It really is insanely beautiful, cried both the times, and to appreciate what AR Rehman and AL Rai have created together, with Dhanush hitting it out of the park with his impeccable performance.

It takes a Salman Khan and no one else to make a 100cr+ profitable film with a poorly written screenplay but Dhanush is after all just a good actor, what can he do? Someone here said this film is talking about mental health issues. If this is about a mental health issue, then Bollywood and Bollywoodias (literates via watching Bollywood movies) have no idea about anything. The film is just another Bollywood film that doesn't get anything right. In simple words, Sara plays a proud Bihari but has no Bihari accent at all, not even a bit. Her dressing would make anyone feel she is a Rajasthani os rural Maharashtrian or even rural Kannadiga or any other. Dhanush stays in a boys' hostel where there are no rules. Sara has a problem but Dhanush, a medical student wants to help her in his own way instead of taking her to a concerned specialist. The film's music too doesn't feel like a Rahman musical. It's very ordinary. It is unfortunate that the horrible climax shows how Bollywood can bring down any serious issues to a joke. What happens to Dhanush in Bihar is ignored by him, a medical student. Such a literate guy should have gone to the police. But that's not what Bollywood writers do. Every time I see Bollywood writers thinking of involving Chennai in their stories, I know it's going to be cliche, shameful, and filled with classical music. Have these people ever been to Chennai? Goa is about 'drugs' & 'beaches' (because there are no beaches anywhere else in India), Bihar is about 'shoot at sight' (because Punjabis and Haryanvi or for that matter anyone else doesn't know how to shoot), Haryana is about women being molested (because Delhi is a safe haven and other states respect women like no other) and South India is about Chennai or Tamil characters (because South India is Chennai).

RATED 7/10 Language: Hindi Source: Hotstar One time watchable, slow paced romantic drama. If they added more fun factor and bit more entertainment, this could have worked out better. Because of slow pace and some uninterested sequences makes this movie bit difficult to watch the first half.... The trailer has all the best moments and it spoils the movie flow... Because of cast and making, one time watchable...

Sara Ali Khan nailed it .But Dhanush is the one who steals the show. Akshay appearance is cherry on the cake. A R rehman take a bow. This movie is for the ones who loves romcom.
