I genuinely made an account to talk about how awful this movie was. I watched it with my partner, and we've seen our fair share of poo movies, but this one honestly takes the crown.
The set was decent, although very small, and very repetitive. The main actors themselves were okay, however the main "boss man", was absolute cringe.
Throughout the movie it has some of the cringiest lines ever, in which a line that the main character says something along the lines of "...i'm a badass". The script is just so cringe, and completely needs to be redone.
Truth be told, i genuinely could've made a better movie and i've never done anything related to movie production.
The soundtrack itself was extremely cringe, and features such bangers as "nero", "luke", "khan", you get the picture, dookie music.
The fight scenes themselves were something different, at one point one of the characters grabs the "handle" of a chainsaw from some guys hand, but you can see in the shot before his hand was essentially level with the middle of the blade. Said guy also gets his head smashed against a metal scaffolding and acts as if nothing happened?
The sound mixing itself was absolutely awful (granted, did watch a cracked copy), and my bf spent the majority of the movie having to adjust it one way, to then have to do it the other way a second after. For instance, the sound of audience clapping was so unbelievably loud, but then you'd have to stop talking to hear the speech at all (maybe for the best).
The speed of the movie also seemed really all over the place, and just really confusing, the characters would talk for ages about essentially nothing, and then something important would happen that you'd missed because you're still trying to compute everything, it was just so sloppy and confusing. One minute we'd be in one room with one set of people, and then we're in a different set with literally no explanation or clues.
Also the main character is a wannabe hardman eminem, who turns out to be "innocent", and used to be in the military, yet in fight scenes his hands would be down at his hips.
Overall, this movie is just ridiculously inconsistent and dookie dogwater. Booooo -10000000.
I can't believe i wasted my evening on such a promising movie, it doesn't live up to any expectations.

Anyone giving this a 3+ is obviously a bot/paid/trolling
this is not a movie, its so bad its like a classroom skit
the entire set is literally the size of your living room if that
the only redeeming quality is that they hired a semi-good looking protagonist, but just because he looks fit, he still sucks at acting.
Script - 1
pacing - 1
concept - 2
whoever wrote the dialogue - 0 i can't even follow the story
uh whoever balanced out the audio - -10, dude, you CAN'T HEAR the people speaking...
100% sure that the movie is directed by some college kids
this is so bad, please just save your 90 minutes of your life..

Arena Wars is a good film expected for hard core action fans of dystopian sci fi, horror and good old fashioned violence. Luke Bender (played by someone who reminds me of Chris Evans) must do whatever it takes to keep his loved ones alive and participate in a popular violent reality show called "Arena Wars". With him are some supporting contestants who join his path to victory. I have to say, for a Mahal Productions movie this one isn't so bad. It's got a well delivered soundtrack, good camera work, good action. Some of the performances are questionable but that's what you get for a crowdfunded production.

Going to be completely honest here and say that there was only two things that were good in this movie. The concept and the killers otherwise it was a absolute garbage fire.
We had some otherwise good actors but not in this sorry excuse of a movie.
Like the character building was null, you barely knew what people were in for and you felt no emotions towards them and the props looked like something a bunch of my friends could make and don't get me started on the zip ties!!!
Why were criminals in fuqing zip ties!! And the rooms looked like they were built from thin wood walls (can't recall their actual name is) in one scene you can even see what looks like someone holding the spotlights in the "ceiling" the prison clothes looked like something bought from a party store.
I honestly feel bad for the actors who agreed to be in this movie, and the producers who thought this was even a decent film. The urge to apologise for not finding this movie even remotley decent say's alot. I've watched b-movies that hold up better than this sorry excuse. Did they pay someone to leave good reviews cuss I can't fathom how else someone could leave those reviews.
(excuse my bad spelling idk how to spell XD especially as English is my second language)

It's definitely one of the worst movies I've seen in my entire life.
The story is nonsensical and irrelevant, the acting is painfully amateurish. The main character, played by an actor who seemed to have zero acting ability, mumbles their way through every scene or engages in stupid fights with horrendous choreography. The supporting cast is ridiculous. The sound effects are bad and very annoying. The only reason why I watched this movie until the end is to see how bad it can get.
Don't be fooled by good reviews, they must be fake and/or posted by bots. Skip this movie, don't waste your time.

Ninety minutes of action-packed, over-the-top pure fun. Directed by Brandon Slagle, who takes the throne and once again gives us an eye-opening experience. The Mahal Empire's newest "Arena Wars" does not disappoint. This is an escape room on steroids. You're front and center to the most horrific sporting event in history. The year is 2045, convicted criminals are given the opportunity to compete on the world's #1 televised sporting event, Arena Wars. They must survive 7 rooms and 7 of the most vicious killers in the country. If they win, they regain their freedom. Who do you root for here? The criminals of serious crimes or the vicious killers? They are pretty much equal. The criminals have been convicted of not petty crimes but murder and rape, so there is no feeling sorry here. As the viewers in the movie, you too are propelled into this futuristic society where violence and punishment are front and center of prime time.
The concept is you either fight for your life at any cost or are met with death. You have 7 levels of horror that if you complete, your crimes are forgiven and you're set free, no questions asked. Yeah, no simple task. You know you're in for some fun when your host Holly Daze, played by Sheri Davis, greets you with a warm greeting of "What's up, B*****?"
The first set of 10 are not very successful and there is no winner; they need a rating booster, so in comes what they think will boost their ratings. Robert Lasorda is among the first bunch and as usual, is a standout as a killer convicted of 57 murders. His presence always is so skillfully played out in anything he does. He truly shines here in the opener.
Ten more are ready for Arena Wars but its group is different. Luke Bender (John Wells), a decorated marine wrongly accused. So it's a real rating grabber, an innocent man fighting for his life. It's customary in these movies, like Total Recall, to have the innocent hero wrongly accused. A ratings grabber by the people in charge of the game promotes that aspect to have a cheering section for the underdog. He takes responsibility for leading his ragtag scums of society into taking down these 7 maniacs in 7 arenas of death.
We are now thrust into the Mahal world of never shying away from anything and throwing buckets of blood and every imaginable way of death that will have you look away but childishly look back with a smile, saying to yourself, "now that's entertainment." There's never a time to breathe; once things get started, they won't let up till the end credits. But as true tradition in these movies, you're always met with that "what the eff" moment.
These kinds of movies are never complete without someone to announce all the action unfolding. Michael Madden is perfect with his sick-minded, almost sadistic commentaries, along with the equally talented Robert Donavan. They are the hosts with the most and then some. Great chemistry and commentary move things along and take off the edge when things get really crazy. Their opening remarks on each of the gladiators are historic.
Special note on the cinematography, as always, is remarkable by Michael Su. The guy is the master of his craft and just adds to every project he is part of.

I literally made an account just so I could yap about how bad this movie was because everybody and their mother seems to be lying. I understand that this is from a smaller company/low budget film but still y'all, be FOR REAL.
The main cast is actually pretty okay, good visuals and okay acting, but the extras?! The background actors and the team of first convicts they showed before main cast is HORRENDOUS. They don't make sense, horrible delivery of lines (the lines themselves are either repetitive, obvious or just needs more work) but fair enough, their extras who cares right? THE LAST CHEER THO?! The random slow clapping?! Literally get better extras cause the movie is way more watchable without them.
The concept itself is great don't get me wrong. The cover and the costumes are AWESOME, but aside from that, nothing else good to say about the movie. The set is so so sooooo low budget. The outside of arena scenes are fine, but they could've used better angles or something to not make the backgrounds look so cheap? I'm sorry but it's just not it.
The lines are so awkward sometimes that it just takes away from the mood or vibe. And the scene with the sushi naked lady? Didn't even have a point (yes it shows how horrible the main villain is and how privileged he is but still)
The visuals of the cast are actually pretty neat, but the voice for the main villain takes away from the supposedly intimidating lines/aura he's supposed to have.
I'm glad they atleast gave the characters common sense. Having taken the chainsaw and teamwork but why not take the bat with spikes from the clown? Could've avoided more injuries from Cutie pie honestly.
Overall, it's a PASSABLE movie, but I did cringe or laugh from how bad some scenes were. WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Arena Wars may not do exactly everything right according to some viewers four for people like me it did the job beautifully. Great camera angles, great focus pulling, great performance. I've noticed that everything involved in this is pretty much involved with other Mahal Empire films like Bridge of the Doomed, Death Count and Night of the Tommyknockers. Sooo many producers! Blimey! Don't think I've ever seen an ending credit block where it had like 300 names for producers. Anyway great film for what it's worth. What more can you ask for in a simple sci fi dystopian action movie? Give it a watch.

The most annoying thing about this is the audio, a lot of chat is sounded out by the music or the cheering crowd. Even when the background noise is softened the talking audio is still low so be prepared to put on the subtitles.
The whipping sound effects when a kick or punch is thrown are so over exaggerated that I think the sound department must have been hired right out of cartoon productions.
Even seasoned actors can't add any clout, if anything it shows their own weaknesses as actors.
Madsen in particular, who has been in some blockbuster movies absolutely stunk throughout this movie.
It's as bad as a bad 80s b movie.
