I have been searching the "lost" animated movies for something quite interesting and have been quite delighted to find this one. Animation is not TOO good although they are trying - I assume is due to the brutally long time in terms of computer animation since this movie was made - but post catastrophic check, dark environment check, massive new weapons check, cute main characters check, the point where you do not know whether it is machines trying to eliminate humans or humans eliminating machines or each other or WHAT? check:) Watch on a weekday with a glass of cider after a long day and you wont complain. It is like enjoying Ms Peckman:) Cheers!

Wow, I wish I saw this in the theater! The first time I saw this was on an import DVD in the original Japanese, and I must saw I was a little confused at first by the subtitles. Upon seeing the English dub version, however, the complexities of the plot came into sharp focus and revealed a storyline every bit as good as the stupendous visuals. Also the domestic DVD release showcases the animation's depth and style; now I can see what a masterpiece this film really is. I was one of the few fans of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, mostly because of the groundbreaking CGI stuff. This movie surpasses that one in every way.

This is my number "1" anime of all time. In all of my years I haven't seen any anime that surpasses this one on showing how the future will be. This is "THEE" futuristic anime. Successors and predecessors in my opinion, did not come even close. It's 3D and many will argue that 3D means breaking the rules. But not me this is a 3D that not even a 1000 2Ds can catch. I may go strong on this but this anime reminds me of my childhood and those years that making a good thing was actually a must. Total product of love. With a lot of technology attached to it. This anime shows that we had better quality and detail 16 years ago. 10s was the worst decade on games, movies, cartoons and animes. And I predict that 20s will be even worse. Old guys, you have seen the good ages. These poor new generations know nothing about quality and art and love. Rating: 20 out of 10. If you like this anime, Armored Core games on PlayStation are made for you.

Hi dear Anime-Fans, this comment does not contain spoilers. I have to tell You, Anime was never my No.1 movie priority, but I am open-minded and thanks to my curiosity I saw perhaps one of the best movies ever. As an old "Ghost in the Shell" - fan, I knew how the drill is in such movies, but be sure that Appleseed will definitely blow You away! It has amazing graphics, a story that puts You on an intellectual edge (simply describing the next moral hazard in the future), devastating action scenes and of course a beautiful Deunen (main character). I consider You to watch also "Appleseed 2 - Ex Machina", produced by John Woo, the graphic is MUCH better (yeah, thats possible!) but the story is not as good as in the first movie. I can tell You, I cannot stop looking these movies! :-) Greetings -V-

If the first 5 minutes of this movie don't grab you, you're probably dead. It has action, suspense and a whole lot of great animation, and thats all in the first 5 minutes. As the story moves forward you'll be hit with plot twists and clean fight scenes. Set in the future when artificial lifeforms are commonplace mankind must rid itself of petty racist views and violent tendencies. Duenan Knute and her companion Briareos must choose sides in a battle for humanity's future. Using a combination of standard animation and CG this movie goes where few have dared to try, there just aren't enough movies, (anime or otherwise) that deserve to be recognized by the major film awards, its a shame this one didn't go to theaters in the United States, the only way to make it better is to have seen it on the big screen. Appleseed rates in the top 3 for me, right up there with X and Armitage the 3rd. I hope to see more anime like this in the near future.

i have seen Appleseed at least 5 times and it only gets better with each viewing. the detail in city planning, mechanics and characters is just great, the action is unbelievably good and the plot is really really good. As a regular movie, it would be one of the best sci-fi i have seen, and i have seen a lot of them. The fact, that its anime makes it match better, allowing creative freedom and making all of the directors visions possible. 10 of 10 ad that is the minimum i could ever give this anime. if you have seen and liked Ghost in the shell then you will just love Appleseed. I have not read the manga and cannot comment on them, but i tell you, the movie is really worth watching.

I thought this movie was one of the best anime i've ever seen, and should not be compared to computer games (final fantasy XII) as it is in a completely different league, yes i love final fantasy, but this movie is so much more different. The graphics were breath-taking, sometimes i wasn't sure it was 3D or ANIME but the mix of the both was amazing. The story was strangely...GOOD!!! Usually anime forget the story and just work of the anime just to make it look pretty...but this is a perfect story. (Also pretty) i would recommend this movie to anime lovers...CG lovers...action lovers...sci-fi lovers...and over all...MOVIE LOVERS!!!

Appleseed was fantastic... Awesome movie if you are not a anime fan you should see this movie storyline and graphics are the best. Appleseed was eye candy for the anime fan.. This is one movie that should be released main stream and everyone should have a chance to see it. Those of us that have heard of the movie have been waiting for its release and we were given a treat. great. great. great . Get off your couch and spend the 13 bucks at your local store and buy it. Hell go out to blockbuster and get it. Are you still reading this go out and see it for yourself. So go get it. Now you bum go get it. IF you liked Ghost in the shell then you will love this movie.
