I see why not everyone liked "Any Day" but I did personally find enough to like in it to merit a 5/10 rating. There was some good atmosphere, acting, and music which makes up for some of the hokey parts and the somewhat unsatisfying ending. I was hoping for a little more resolution at the end, but perhaps that's better than the film running on too long. I'd say it's worth watching for free on TV or streaming if you have the time, though I do like the four main actors to begin with. So, it's a decent B Indy film. Did IMDB increase the minimum review length? Now I need two paragraphs of text or something?

The cast is quite good - Sean Bean alone has the gravitas and the charisma to carry the whole thing. Having said that, the script lets him and the others down quite a bit. It is not just the cliches it serves and the predictability. It is the dialog and the situations too. But the actors make it almost work entirely, even if some situations seem and feel quite contrived to say the least. Also the boy may not be the best choice. Now I'm not trying to put him down, but it felt like he was missing a few things to convey anything he was supposed to feel - or we were to detect him feeling. That may sound mean I guess, but he has pivotal role and I reckon some may feel even stronger about him than I do. Convenience aside this is decent overall I'd say

Couldn't watch the entire movie. It's really boring.

This is a semi-faith based film that attempts to disguise itself. Vian (Sean Bean) beats a man to death. After 12 years in prison, he gets out and finds out no one wants anything to do with him. His sister (Kate Walsh) who believes "God will provide" reluctantly takes him for a few weeks, during which time he picks up Eva Longoria by asking her about her sign. Things go up for Sean and right when the story was getting ready to stall, the down slide happens to wake us back up. This was a slow moving drama about an ex-con, forgiveness, redemption, and Jimmy's rock. None of the theme aspects were done particularly well, but then again it wasn't bad...just meh. Guide: No swearing, or nudity. Implied sex.

I sometimes like films with dire ratings. In this independent film from 2015, Sean Bean plays an alcoholic who has been released from jail after serving a 12 year sentence for second degree murder. In a rather cliche filled film that is at times quite depressing there are comic relief moments regarding the accent that Bean utilizes. Its a hybrid Sheffield, U.K./U.S. accent that is reminiscent of Jason Stathams appalling accent, Kevin Costner in Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves and Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins! Bean faces the demons of his past and the film is called Facing Demons in the U.K. It reminded me of some bad films that I like. Superman IV, Jaws IV and Human Centipede! Bean looks rather haggard in some scenes but his performance does give the film some gravitas.

Fighting Demons starts out interestingly enough but quickly treads a well worn path and soon goes into heavy handedness and banality. Sean Bean is Vian a former boxer released from 12 years in jail for beating a man to death. On his release, he is unwanted in his old boxing gym and his single mom sister reluctantly allows him to stay with her young son with the proviso that he does not drink and stays out of trouble. Vian tries to pull his life back together as an ex-con, he gets a job in a diner, he gets on well with his boss (Tom Arnold) and even gets a girlfriend (Eva Longoria) who seems to be stalked by a rival suitor which the film never delves in. Things seem to be going well, Vian get tempted to drink every now and then but he resists however his nephew is involved in an accident which causes distress, he falls out with his boss because Vian does want him to date his sister for no reason at all and his girlfriend finds out that he has done time. The film also has some Christian spiritual undertones in the movie and it all dissipates with a weak finish about trying to find redemption for his crime. As a minor low key film it is well acted although Sean Bean is clearly too old for his character.

The warning sign should say "WARNING! This movie is so bad that you'll waste even more time giving it bad ratings on IMDb" Ned Stark died for this? It's like the actors didn't even try and the director was happy was with them just getting the lines right, no acting needed, and kept the takes to a minimum. As a previous commentator stated, flat, flat and flat. It's not physically possible to give spoilers to this film, only warnings... Here goes, Eva Longoria is being stalked by a really creepy guy who waits outside her house like every day she comes back from work, but hey, let's go grab some pizza because it's got basil on it. The mother of the kid (who probably got paid in ice cream because he couldn't act at all) reacted to his coma state like he'd just got a new retainer at the dentist, ah so around 4 to 6 weeks? Anyone else surprised Sean Bean looked the same age after 12 years in prison? The make up department's contribution to that one was handing his younger version a sports jacket... Genius Like I said, there should be warning signs on these type of movies telling how bad they are...

An ex-boxer comes out of jail after 12 years and tries to re-build his life. It's a familiar tale but for a small film it does punch above it's weight for large periods. It's all fairly low key apart from the final half hour but a decent cast make this fairly enjoyable. Sean Bean isn't the most versatile of actors but I thought he did a good job here showing a vulnerability he doesn't always get the chance to show. Eva Longaria also does a good job and the chemistry between her and Bean does a lot to drag the film along. Good support is provided by Tom Arnold and Kate Walsh and there is a promising performance by Nolan Gross as Beans young nephew. Whilst this could have been annoyingly predictable a decent script makes this more interesting than expected. Although not without it's faults ( some of the scenes towards the end are a bit clumsy) I'm surprised that as it stands this has such a low rating 5.0 (651 votes). Based on that rating I wasn't expecting much but this was far more enjoyable than expected. Well worth watching if you have a spare couple of hours to kill.

I just watched this. I guess I look at movies different then most. The story about an ex prisoner trying to start his life over, and the folks who would not "hire an ex- con". I have never for heard of the man actor, or the boy ,but the ladies Eva, and Kate ,and Tom Arnold .I never liked Mr. Arnold's being silly in his past work , but this serious role as the restaurant guy who took a chance on the Ex-con showed his caring for another guy down on his luck. This was well written, and well acted , and made you hope that if you do things right, even after you have messed up...things will improve in your life by making amends of your wrongs.
