Great movie reflecting teenage life in 2020. Also, very realistic with a great plot and acting. Surreal and trippy as well.

Two girls in high school are best friends (chloë levine, kimie muroya), but everyone gangs up on them, in the name of anti-bullying. Kat does the deed with a guy, who advertises it on social media. Even though he promised to keep it quiet. Janet (muroya) has weight issues; she finds Rian, but she's not sure if he's real. It might just be the meds she's on. Kat's mom goes on a self pity crying spree that goes on waaaay too long, and gets cra cra annoying. Nothing really gets settled here, but the friendship between kat and janet seems to be rock solid in the end. Written and directed by keith bearden. It's pretty good.

A little movie that surprises at almost every turn. It's funny, surrealistic, sweet and both feminist and politically incorrect at the same time. Chloe Levine and Kimie Muroya are believable friends, and the nutjobs that fill up the adult portion of their lives are grimly hilarious and very believable. The "quirk factor" never goes out of bounds it doesn't drag on like so many indies. It's a special movie that's not quite like anything I've seen.

It's a light and intelligent coming of age movie. Loved how it's not typical and is just simply life.
My wife didn't like it though, said it was boring. She watched till the end though, which is something rare, so i guess that says something as well.

One of my most anticipated movies of 2020, I watched ANTARCTICA twice and I'm still laughing. This is an absolutely brilliant film, funny yet touching.
It is a rich story full of realism, satire, and some crazy subplots, with a creative script and endlessly witty dialog. Stevie D is particularly hilarious. The two leads, girlfriends Kat and Janet, are extraordinary together - what a casting coup.
Clever set designs appear throughout, and the camera work is remarkable.
Music is used to great effect. The last dance scene was a tear-jerker for me.
I was sad for the movie to end.
Hats off to the writer/director for a memorable story and a thoroughly enjoyable time at the movies!

There are certainly funny bits, and I enjoyed them, but I appreciate the timeliness of this movie. It touches on all the themes of the day: mental health and feeling out of control of your own life, and the need for human interaction, even when it might put you at risk.
The performances are subtle and touching. The scene design helps tell the story in an eye-catching way (love the rainforest). I recommend this for anybody wanting a quiet movie to watch with friends, remote or otherwise.

As a 1st-generation Asian-American woman, I wasn't sure I'd find any connection with the 2 leads, but I did. I was particularly drawn to Janet, who is not your stereotypical quiet, slim-figured, "girly" Asian girl. She also has a romantic interest with a cute boy - yay for chubby girls being shown as attractive human beings in the world! I also love that she's a badass who has stands up for herself & her best friend.
This is the kind of thing I'd love to see more of: the portrayal of American experiences by men & women who just happen to be Asian. I think of Steven Yeun playing Glenn in "The Walking Dead" here as well.
Overall, the movie is funny & quirky that reminds me a bit of John Hughes' work (albeit with a darker tone). The trials that both women go through are meaty & tackle contemporary issues, but the movie is less than 90 mins long. I ended up watching it again after the credits rolled because I longed for it to go on and on!

I was pleased by the lack of elitist, sanctimonious, politically correct gesturing in this film; which is presently smeared thicker than a 90 year old tart's makeup in most of the film industry's output.
The story is relatable.
The storytelling is good.
The acting is good.
Imagination has been utilised.
There's not much more to say.

This story are ,i arent gonna say, but what i can say is that its made on a balanced budget, with two extremely cute, if not to say attractive young female actresses (one of them looks like my spouce, whom ,well i wont tell) that goes through the cornthresher of teenage nightmares to condone and conform into the rites of american culture... in an innocent laughing out loud way- made comedy that takes a toll on bullying, bodypreasure, sex before marriage, abortion, drugs, education, poverty, and arrainged marriage .
its a philosophomoronic, antrapoligetic and pseudopsychodelious story that encounters the correct society and corrects society into the way a correct society should be in a fun way. the irony really etches the sketch, of how coming of age hardships are on todays young generations.
the acting is pure and plain, the production is made in a kinda 80'ish style, lovely use of blurred out backgrounds, use of colours and very spartanian designed shoting sites., it has a flawless editing, and right now i cant recall that there where a scoreline at all...
but thats probably because im grumpy and im old, and was born with an upside down curving smile, that really charmed my girl friends when i wore my teethbracelett with harpstrings attached playing the heavenly chimes of a perfect waterlevelled smile, with a ''twoing'' each time when the rubber strings broke when playing toungphony, but that was way back in those days we lived in caves an your granma and my grandma were sitting by the fire.
but this is a little gem that may bring forward your laughter again, at least mine did, so a big recommend

What a peculiar and wonderful movie! I was dragged along to a screening and didn't know what to expect and really haven't stopped thinking about it since. Wouldn't mind seeing it again. Perfect indie flick.
