This movie demands a serious watch, this is not a saccharine flick to simply pass some idle time. It is a coming-of-age story of a young lady in the Turkish countryside. The title character's father is almost absent leading her mother to fill the void, which the latter attempts to do to the best of her ability. Unfortunately, the daughter feels ashamed and embarrassed of her simple bucolic mom and yearns for a chance to get out through education. Later on, having matured and passed a few traditional social adulthood markers and more than her fair share of tragedy she starts to introspect on her previous conduct. I found the movie to be extremely well-acted, so much so that I felt like I was watching real-life playing out in front of me and not a motion picture. Honestly, I have rarely cried as much as I did watching this movie. The mark of a good film is when it stays with you long after the last credits roll away, and the mark of a truly great film is when it makes you question your own life choices and leaves you with an inkling of knowledge to apply to your own life. This film fulfilled this purpose for me. It's worth the watch if you are in the state of mind to absorb a serious study of the human condition. Happy Viewing!

My mum devoted her life for me and for my other siblings. That's so sad but I also did same mistakes like Nazli before alot. I feel so sorry about it now. When I watched this movie I remembered about my childhood how my mum's cared for us and how she was proud when I also entered and studied abroad. I gave 10/10 for this movie. I want to thank for creators of this movie and my special thanks for actors and actresses.

I enjoyed watching the movie. Good actors and very emotional movie. But when it ended I thought this cant be the end! Sucha depressing meaningless ending which i dont understand.

I have seen Özge playing in romantic comedy and now I see her in a drama..she is really good actress!!!

How come "Sumru Yavrucuk" not nominated for an Oscar on this movie !! Amazing mother daughter story, only the ending is not that good, I preferred a happy ending not sad. This movie is a must watch movie.

Wonderful movie. Great action from the mom and the daughter. Words cannot describe how beautiful this movie is. Although I wish the ending was more clear as to if she died or not. But nothing the less BEATIFUL.
