481 people rated For Atul Dutt and his young bride Vina married life is proving far from straightforward, when it comes to their 'first night'. So with meddling parents, nosy neighbours and a community that thrives on gossip, can this marriage last?

I was never much taken by the Family Way
This remake turns what was dull to something that is plain silly. The idea that a girl would know nothing about sex in this day and age is virtually an anachronism.

All in good time is a typical Brit Asian film... as an Asian I don't watch many Brit Asian films but this film is hilarious! I love the way that the father's character has been portrayed to the audience, it's funny because he is an overweight character and the way he behaves combined with his appearance is what makes his character very humorous. Looking at my family the stereotypes are almost true!I would recommend this strongly to viewers who love other films such as It's a Wonderful after life and Bend it like Beckham.. just like these films even though the stereotypes are there, they are not strong enough to be offensive. Also, the humour is light and is a very good family friendly film.

A comedy drama about contemporary British Asian life. It focuses on a newly married couple and their domestic/marital/relationship problems, in the context of their families and community. Things start badly for the newly weds with a cancelled honeymoon resulting in a return to his parents' house and a frustrating life from there on within the family home and community.
Unfortunately the drama is unconvincing and unbelievable whilst the comedy is awkward, predictable, clichéd and full of stereotypes. For comedy to be effective it needs more than recycled situations and resurrected themes, it requires originality and fresh perspectives that provide insights into the world within which the events unfold.

The fathers character in this was so revolting it made it a hard movie to watch. Lame comedy and slow uninteresting story line. Would not recommend this movie to anyone. Pretty much the story goes a young Indian couple get married and are yet to have sex. Their honeymoon gets canceled and they are currently living with the husbands parents. Every time they try to have sex they can't manage to get aroused enough because they can always here the father in the other room making disgusting noises etc. So then their marriage starts to fall apart and they begin to have their doubts about whether they should be together or not. What an abysmal remake of a great British film called The Family Way (1966). Heavy-handed, ham-fisted and lacking ANY quality acting it drearily and pathetically trudges its way through almost-mimicking the great film made in 1966. The final insult was the atrocious acting by the 'father' at the end of the film when he cries as he remembers the friend whom his 'son' resembles. The late, great Sir John Mills as well as the late Marjorie Rhodes might have choked had they seen this particular drivel of so-called 'acting', as too might Hayley Mills and Hywell Bennett.
What a mediocre mess this whole effort is, it should never have been made. Leave good originals alone, don't desecrate their memory by creating rubbish like this. Shame to everyone involved in this.
A rating of 5.6 for this?! Perhaps anyone who thinks that this tripe remake is a reasonable film should watch the original and see what a good film is all about - QUALITY. QUALITY gets a deserved 7.5 rating.

I found this laugh out loud film by accident. Truth is it was at a reduced price at the DVD shop. But I am so glad I found it. You don't have to be Asian to find this film funny as it is just so well acted and written. But the Asian wedding is probably different to many western ones in that the bride is actually a virgin and it is this that makes it so workable.
All the acting is brilliant but the guy who acts as the boys father was really funny.
This is a film I could definitely watch again and would recommend to others.
Oh also hardly any bad language if at all which makes a change.
