Like someone else stated Alien Code or The Men, or whatever the right title for this movie is, it's a decent movie for a low budget B-movie. I thought the beginning was much better than the ending, but that's my opinion. It starts promising with some mysterious things happening. Things that get your attention, and it's like that for almost the entire movie, that mysterious feeling, but in the end it's just way too complicated to understand. Or I must be a bit too dumb to understand the whole thing, that's also an option. But the movie is watchable, with a good idea for a story, but it could have been much better if developped more. The acting wasn't bad either. Just too bad they didn't show more alien stuff, because that would have made the movie better.

A too long and drawn out, tediously annoying presentation of a stilted storyline supported by mumbo jumbo dialog which tries to impress with gratuitously vague references to "algorithms" and "linear time". Melodramatic acting, with no action, no respectable special effects nor anything else of redeeming value. As sickening to the viewing audience as it is to the characters themselves, the whole point of it is that nothing matters anyway. Indeed, spare yourself from this claptrap.

I had to recover my IMDB password to review that, which took me some time, but I felt I really had to go through this to save others from paying money to watch this fundamental piece of s**t. Everything is bad about this movie - and I mean everything. The key actor should quit right now and do something else with his life, script is plain stupid, direction miserably fails, and I could go on and on but I guess you get the point so far. This is a low budget movie and cries out loud it is. It is like me and a couple of friends having no idea what making a movie is all about to come together and decide to make one. 5/10 rating is clearly from the friends and family of the crew - save your money and go buy a pizza or something.

This is a low budget movie that is not gore not stupid. It tell a very good story on a very good way. I' watched it with no expectations and i' liked it very much. It have elements of fringe and other movies but is itself very original. I' might be no expert but I found the acting very good.

I have no idea why the overall rating for this on IMDb is so low. This is pretty solid SF, and the two lead actors are excellent. Maybe viewers got hung up on the "accuracy" of tech details regarding computing and cryptography. From that perspective, I can say as a former systems engineer and software product manager (albeit neither a coder or a cryptographer) that the tech representation is perfectly adequate for the storyline. The discussion of NSA back doors -- one developer who worked for a company that complied and one that worked for a company that did not comply -- is somewhat off the mark from what actually happened in this country with the Dual EC DRBG standard. But this *is* a work of fiction, and subversion of the type depicted in "Alien Code" remains one of the greatest threats to cyber security. I recommend this for the fascinating exploration of time, human consciousness, and what creatures who live in a higher dimension, where time is a point not a line, might be like. Not to mention that the story has a great pace and engaging characters. Thumbs up!

This film really surprised me. It was extremely well done from a sci/-fi.... point of view. I haven't seen a good story like this in some time. I also applaud Mary McCormack whom I've always been a big fan of, for diving into this role. It probably doesn't deserve a 9, but I'm giving it a lot of credit, because I wish Hollywood would turn over better scripts than Jurassic World. I mean, really? Hollywood has run out of ideas and it's time to start coming up with new ideas. There were actually parts of this film that reminded me of 2001. Whatever happened to bold film making like films like 2001, and Apocolypse Now, The Shining, ect. Instead we get cheesy remakes and reboots and they often come out like crap. Like remaking Poltergeist. The original was a classic. But they killed it with the remake. Prometheus was terrible. The original Alien a classic. Time to go back to the 70s and 80s. Seriously.

I am really impressed by how well some of the actors in this movie can act. This movie does show that the most important thing for an actor in a high budget movie is what a person looks like on film. The two main actors in this movie give a much better performance than 99% of the actors U see in a big budget sci fi, but neither of them is really 'good looking', so this is all they get. In any event, I felt sorry for the actors being let down by such a poor script. The fact that some viewers herald this movie as intellectual is an indicator of how brainless movie viewers have become.==The main character is able to come back from the 'moment' dimension and leave a message for himself explaining everything. Then he dies, THEN he comes back before he dies and sees the message and is able to change what is going to happen. The Problem here is he comes back twice, this is never explained. -However this is not the worst problem with the script. The aliens exist in a single moment, and yet they are able to design extremely complex blue prints, which could never occur in a single moment. If a viewer wants to argue that within the moment that time is linear for the aliens, allowing them time to develop and reason, THEN they would never be consumed with knowing about beings who exist in a linear time. So U see the script was just something yanked out to be 'cool' but was never done for thoughtful reasons, in the end the script is just another Hollywood crowd pleaser

If you're mislead by the title of the movie, and think it's going to be something like Jeff Goldbloom uploading a virus into an alien ship and it exploding, and along the way to that triumphal moment when man conquers the alien invasion, you will be horribly disappointed. There is no action in this movie - it's basically a too long look at a "What if time weren't linear?" science fiction question that that has been argued over and over among hardcore science fiction fans - ones too geeky to be cos players but who argue minutia of irrelevant questions in sci-fi chat rooms fueled by Red Bull until dawn and still haven't answered the question. "Groundhog Day" gave a terrific depiction of this idea - watch it instead. (seriously!) Zero character development - very one dimensional (ha-ha, After you see the movie you'll understand that's a joke) Kyle Gellner and Azura Skye play two cryptographers, Alex and Beth, who are hired to decrypt a message that's discovered in a satellite that has been sent back in time possibly hundreds of years ago, just waiting for mankind to evolve technologically to the point where man can decrypt the message, which turns out to be what at first is thought to be a machine to let us contact the aliens who left it there in the first place. Coincidently, they are also both dying of brain tumors. Alex, played by Gellner, gives a weak, but still the best performance of the movie. Beth on the other hand, is a one dimensional character who has very little screen presence, it's like she actually was dying and had no energy to play her role. The agents of the super secret corporation subcontracted by the the government are a joke - Mary McCormack who plays Rebecca, the person who recruited Alex and Beth is the very definition of a secret agent who won't reveal anything to Alex about the job until he signs a no disclosure agreement, gives a performance that would be OK for a high school play, but utterly lacking in the movie. Her two henchmen are caricatures of Agent Smith, who don't utter a single line, but stand there in dark sunglasses and gloves trying to look threatening. So, poor acting, and a plot that had some potential, but was poorly written and doesn't inspire any emotion at all in the audience. (me). Richard Schiff is a good actor - he played a convincing scientist Man of Steel - Superman, and has played numerous characters well with feeling, must have had a payment due on his vacation home or something, because he has a part in one scene lasting maybe 4 or 5 minutes, and seems to have read the script for the first time about 30 minutes before shooting his scene. The "Aliens" - who don't come from outer space by the way, look like nothing other than actors hired to play the Slender Man part, but got lost and wound up on this set instead. Don't waste your money on a rental, I'm sure it will be in Amazons "Prime" catalog very soon and you can watch it for free, even then, you could be doing something more entertaining, like watching paint dry, or waiting for water to boil.
