"Alien Abduction" turned out to actually be better than I had anticipated it to be. Especially given that it is yet another of those awful 'found footage' movies. Found footage my... The movie starts out with "the following is actual leaked footage from the US AIRFORCE..." And I must admit that I was ready to get up and find something else to watch already when I saw that. Actual footage? Are you kidding me? So that is why there is nothing but actors portraying characters in the movie... It just doesn't get more ridiculous than that.
But I hung around and gave the movie a chance. For a 'found footage' movie, then "Alien Abduction" wasn't all that bad. The storyline and the thrills were what kept the movie afloat and it made it bearable to witness the hand-held camera point of view.
The story is about the Morris family who venture into the Brown Mountains for a camping and hiking trip, when they witness a strange light phenomena in the sky and then suddenly find themselves running for their lives as strange creatures are stalking them and an eerie light seems to track their every movement. But being in the mountains, there is no one to call for help and very few places to go.
The acting in the movie was alright, and people did seem to bring a certain amount paranoia into their acting, which really worked out nicely.
"Alien Abduction" is good enough entertaining for a single watching, especially if you have any kind of interest in extraterrestrials and UFOs.

This movie is trying to be a shoot on camera horror thing in which it fails completely, form one end to the other. The story is classic, some guys go to a cabin in the middle of no where to spend some family weekend time. The script is bad to very bad, with illogical and non sense to stupid dialogs. There are no characters, just fourth rate actors who play as bad as their league are in. One of the script character is an autistic kid which seems everything but that. Everyone who read about autism knows that such a person can communicate with exterior being trapped in his own mind. But this kid, oh boy, he talks all the time and seems, by far, the most intelligent from all characters involved in the story. Avoid this garbage at all cost, go do something else worth doing.

I was really hoping to see the next Signs, but what I got instead was Cloverfield. The acting was actually pretty great, all things considered, you could tell that if they were scripted it either wasn't heavily so or they're just really good at portraying their scripts. Their location was great, and the focus on tiny details and accuracies were what gave it the four stars it got. It only got the four stars because of it's over all MOVIE quality. For a horror film, it's lacking atmosphere and tone, and it's sort of stereotypical, but in a bad way. In a bad way twice. First, because even in a stereotypical horror movie there are some thrills you can drag out of them, a few gut-wrenching moments when you have to close your jaw so you don't bite your tongue cause you know something's about to jump-- but this movie somehow manages to not only be stereotypical of a found-footage horror film, but also miss that mark completely. It came close to being a B-rate horror film about aliens, but in the end, there was no cigar for them.

I don't know why, but I felt that this was going to be a different alien movie. I was wrong.
Not only it fails to be fresh and new, but also fails to entertain.
I'm starting to loathe "alien movies", that don't show a single alien on focus. There should be a "low budget warning" at the beginning of the film.
The acting is also very poor.
The only reason I kept watching it till the end, is that I wanted to see at least one alien face.
A waste of time, if you are looking for something new.

Another Jump-Scare-POV film. With aliens. Boring, poorly filmed, I'd actually take more pleasure watching it before all the crappy after effects were put in, then at least it could pass for a B movie.
As most POV movies do, it tried too hard and relied too much on after effects and shaky camera work to hide poor directing, weak narrative and forgettable characters
Reminds me of a film a saw a few years back of the same name but it was also called: the mcpherson tape. This was basically a larger budget version of it, and it was still pretty rubbish!
Still, alright for a cheap laugh

How can a sci-fi movie be so foolish, if you're smart this movie doesn't convince you at all. How can a super intelligent being be so idiot that you can play a cat & mouse game with it all night in the woods? Aliens in this movie looks like a bunch of naughty kids who were on a mission to spook the family in the night that's it? Then an autistic child who completely looks normal doesn't wanna give up recording no matter how much panicked they were. Hiding, running, falling, hiding again, the kid never looses his determination to record and even that with perfect control over the camera. Movie starts and ends with a stupid footage in which a camera is sucked to an apparently alien ship which is located apparently in the low earth orbit and alien finds this piece an unusable crap so he dumps it in what looked like a trash vent lol and then the camera makes it all the way to the ground in no time, hits the ground but still doesn't stop working....that's one tough a*s camera and this is one dumba*s movie. If you're a sci-fi lover and really understand the science, stay away!

This is a hit or miss for some people. If you love found footage, or freaky Alien films, you'll LOVE this. If you don't like found footage or Alien films, then WHY are you reading this? You shouldn't even BE here, in the Horror/Sci-Fi area of IMDb.
For me, this was a heart pounder. I loved it. From the opening to the ending, I couldn't take my eyes off this movie. There were a couple things I would've changed, BUT the over all effect was great. Extremely well written, and filmed. Believable effects, and the best camera money can buy apparently Give this one a shot, as I said if you like Alien movies, being scared, and edge of your seat tension, this is a movie that should be in your collection.

I actually had a lot of fun watching this film. I did not expect a lot, but I received in actuality interesting and jump-scary horror alien film.
Acting is very good, these actors almost made me think that it is a real, based-on-the-truth film. If I understand from other reviewers that this plot is only loosely based on the true events, which makes it really just a fun film to watch.
I would like that US government finally comes out with the truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth about aliens and what is true and what is not. There is too much different kind of what is true what is not true, many books written about the issue. It is finally time to tell to the general public EVERYTHING that is known about the issue.
If you are into alien horror movies you should see this film, otherwise you could see it only as time waster.

This is another found footage movie, this time the footage comes from a camera which has been dropped out of a UFO where aliens are torturing someone with a dentists drill. Luckily the camera has survived several days of use without recharge and being punted out of a flying saucer from near-orbit. The aliens are mad to throw away a camera that reliable in my opinion.
So the movie has shown you the ending within the first few minutes. The family themselves are bland and uninteresting but there are some funny moments and I mean funny as in badly done. Witness the argument that explodes out of nowhere in the car when they suddenly decide they are lost.
"I didn't make the mountains! They go up and they go down!" That's just the kind of thing people say to each other during car arguments isn't it? Not as funny as the way the aliens flat-pack their victims during abduction though. What a ridiculous effect.
When the aliens do show up it causes the camera to malfunction in a convenient way that shows you very little and instead gives you a blast of annoyingly loud noise to make you jump and some annoying jittery images of rubber alien masks to go with it.

The Morris family drives in the North Carolina mountains near Brown Mountain during vacation. Some unnerving events, such as dead crows falling from the sky onto their van, contribute to the family getting lost on the winding mountain trails.
Then follows the usual failure of electronics, such as GPS, cell phones, and radio. One of the more discouraging phenomena was the finding of a whole large tunnel full of vehicles separated from their owners.
After more scary passages, some of the Morris family finds Sean, a local who likes guns. He helps them as best he can, but that is not good enough.
How many of the family survive and return to civilisation? Does the 'documentary' impart any particular wisdom?
-----Scores------
Cinematography: 4/10 Found film and worse.
Sound: 6/10 The sound added some edge to the proceedings, and I could usually make out the dialog.
Acting: 2/10
Screenplay: 5/10 The story did sort of hang together despite the cinematography.
