When I was little, I wanted to be Mozart. But Mozart already existed. And, it seems that his spirit did not reincarnate in me, he was stuck somewhere on the roof of the house where he lived when he died. Because it did not reach the sky, that it's clear. Why? Because he
composed "The devil's music." Not what was later called rock'n'roll, but the symphonic roots of the genre. Power, not having drums, because his father did not buy them for him, had to feed only on spirituality, feeling the music in his hands, in his whole body, being himself the drums. What does the power of music mean! A single song, "Tom Sawyer" by RUSH, the great Canadian trio, completely transformed his heart, his soul, his mind or, better said, transformed him, from the larva without drums, into the free butterfly that rises to
the sky. Power's performer, Ari Gold, is a mix of Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton, Woody Allen and "Weird Al" Yankovic. All the other actors are wonderful: Michael McKean, in the role of the father, Jane Lynch, in the role of aunt Joni, Adrian Grenier, as the silver-spoon boy Dallas Houston. The one who does a special role is the beautiful Shoshannah Stern as Annie. If you love music, you have an extra reason to like the movie. If you love comedies, you have another reason. A simple, emotional story that touches everyone's soul.

One of the best things about this movie is Power's indomitable spirit and his will to succeed. Throw in a star studded cast and you have yourself truly original underdog story. There is no other movie like it! I truly recommend this cult classic!

I really enjoyed "Adventures of Power" by Ari Gold. It's a well-made film with a unique visual style! The character development is great, especially the protagonist Power, played by Gold. It's heartwarming, funny and has an inspiring storyline. The story follows Powers, a small-town air drummer who dreams of becoming the best, despite his disapproving father who is the midst of a strike with his coal mining union. Along the way, he meets an unlikely teacher and learns to embrace his passion. His determination to succeed in the face of adversity was inspiring! By the end of the movie, he proves that anything is possible if you put your heart and soul into it. If you're looking for a unique feel-good movie that will have you cheering in the end, this is the one for you!

This film is excellent. Being a drummer and a Rush fan means a lot of the in-jokes are right up my alley, but there's a lot more to this movie. Especially moving are the scenes with the striking workers. And when the strike-busters turn up, there's not a dry eye in the house.

Power grew up in a small New Mexico mining town, but always dreamed of bigger things. With music in his soul but no money for drums, he learned to rock by drumming on the air! Power follows his dream to New Jersey's underground air drumming scene to compete against the greatest air drummers in the world.
I absolutely LOVE this movie!
With an amazing soundtrack, great performances, and tons of heart, Adventures of Power is a must-see for anyone who dreams big... and drums bigger!

Adventures of Power is a brilliant movie that tells a story of a man named Power who sets out to change the world for the better using the thing he loves the most in life.....air drumming. I have seen this over and over and plan to watch it many more times.

A rare comedy that has heart featuring a lovably awkward protagonist (Power) and 80's style humor wonderfully reminiscent of Wayne's World. Power as a character is definitely innocent yet eccentric in that same kind of Garth way. He's also very relatable on his quest to fulfill his passion, which in his case is to be a drummer even though he never played because he couldn't afford a drum set of his own.
Adventures of Power is both silly and surprisingly powerful in moments. Without taking itself too seriously the film still manages to address serious social issues and intertwine it's own unique humor. Memorable scenes are thoughtfully edited to music with an undercurrent of social commentary on worker's right and class warfare that no one has really touched on in films so much recently, or done so in such a poetic way. The film also is full of amazing classic rock and has a nostalgia which is also rare to find. It carries an important message of following your own path and passion even when you can't afford to (or even when your parents disapprove of you). The kind of determination of Power, though in jest and good fun, make this an inspirational uplifting comedy for generations to come. I feel like this is the kind of film that seems really simple on the surface but actually has many layers. Definitely one to see more than once. A must see for the dreamer in all of us.

This is my first movie review ever. I just finished watching Adven/Power on Showtime and I immediately went online to see if everyone thought it was as fantastic as I did. Unfortunately, most didn't. I think people are too used to these watered down, bland American comedies. I literally sat through some female comedian's stand up set on Comedy Central last night without even cracking a smile. Watching Adven/Power was SO different. I actually held my stomach with a gut laugh--and that's rare these days. I agree with a previous reviewer who said that this movie was akin to Napoleon--classic. And not everyone will get the funny/witty/sincere humor that Adven/Power has to offer in EVERY scene. Amazing! And Adrian Grenier was SO cute--and hilarious.
This quirky movie had soul, touched me to tears while making me laugh at the same time. In this day and age, people are so superficial and don't appreciate the simple pleasures of life. Too many people are stuck on huge budget movies with a lot of bling/bling and little substance. Adven/Power was making movies and comedies is all about. It is a cult classic and I am a fan!
