I knew this was going to be a great experience when I immediately saw 2 random people wandering in the background of the "opening kill"... .
Abominable doesn't really have anything going for it. But I would argue that this is a "so bad, it's good"-movie. There's so many things wrong with it that I honestly had a smile on my face throughout the entire viewing.
Characters give weird exposition and try to build some story while I'm sitting there, wondering why the time of day changes 3-4 times over the course of 10 seconds. Scenes that were obviously supposed to be filmed during dusk or night are filmed in broad daylight but the characters act like it's dark as hell.
Random kills that add nothing. Plastic guns. Weird, hand-held camera movements that confuse the hell out of me.
I honestly enjoyed this movie. But is it bad in nearly every regard? Absolutely.

Dr. Martin leaves a horrible tape recording in a remote location. An extraction team has been sent in, but they are late. Dr. Smith is looking to get the yeti plant with its curative properties. One guy wants to shoot the yeti, you would think they would work together, but they don't.
The soundtrack was a replaying of the same rift over and over again attempting to build tension. It just got annoying. Acting and dialogue were bad. We do see the yeti up close while many scenes were "White Fang" style where we just see the hand and Soupy Sales fighting him off. The attempt to make this a timeless isolated place didn't work.
Guide: No swearing, sex, or nudity.

The movie itself is low budget so expectations should be in line with that I always think when trying to do a fair review.
Photography was decent enough and did not look like a film student made it as one of the other reviewers has suggested and the gore scenes particularly the chin ripper scene was actually quite well done....however....
Unfortunately the thing that makes this movie hard to watch are the overdone music/sound effects they are very intrusive and sometimes dominate entire scenes and dialogue; its as if the director heard the sequence and was so impressed he decided to use the same musical sequence over and over again in every scene.
Add to that the poor acting, plodding pace and dull script this one is a bit of a lame turkey!

The name of this movie does double duty as both the title and the one word review. And I gotta say, that's a really neat move. I hope this becomes a trend within the industry.
This review contains no spoilers, because the entire movie, from start to finish, is spoilt.

So obvious that this movie is a group project, people getting together, deciding to make a movie and then simply, doing so.
For that and some...better aspects I rated it 4 stars, but believe me, it is not something to recommend. I do however like the idea of it, in the woods horror is one of the cheapest and most accesible movies you can do, add a monster to it, hit some regular aspects here and there and that's about it. So for a indie project, I can accept it for what is it, considering the very small budget, new entrie actors and a plot so basic, even the 80s and 90s tried harder than this.
Yet again, this is more of a project than a movie per say, so just go with it. I genuinely believe that Abominable (2006) is a far better representation of the Yeti thus I shall recommend that one in case you're feeling nostalgic over the big white monster.
Cheers!

Lost me when I realized that their so called "beacons" were actually bench grinders. Nice attempt though.

Some good acting, but terrible plot. Never knew who exactly this team was, why they were there, where they were. Yeti in a rubber gorilla suite was throw back to 50s. Pretty cheesy. And the why the nemesis went rogue never made sense.

Cliché of other films of its kind , only thing less wooden than the acting are the trees. 1960's special effects and dramatic choral music throughout.

This film start with a man holding a bottle with a plant in it, attacking by a Yeti, and a bunch researchers gather in a office scene! As turnout, this film is about a bunch of researchers need to save Dr. Smith(who want to obtain the Yeti plant to cure cancer) from the killing of a Yeti! All the shooting scene in the film just hear the sound, never show the bullet, and never show hitting the opponent! Make the film unwatchable! The killing scene just show the gore part, never show the killing scene in detail! Barely intense scene is, the Yeti constantly hitting Robert! At the end, just Sarah survive from the killing of the Yeti! That's it! Wasting time to watch!
