Turning the zombie film on its head, this film is an oddball comedy from the perspective of the brain munching monsters themselves.

This was a great movie! I really wish I could find a place to purchase this movie though, I've been looking all over for it, but it is nowhere to be found. Having said that I really enjoyed the whole story and thought it was a GREAT new twist to the zombie genre. I don't think I have ever been happier with a zombie flick that was supposed to be humorous! Also I liked the use of color vs black and white to portray the differences between the way they see themselves as opposed to the way they are seen by everyone else. Like I said before I really wish I could come across a copy of this to have, or at the very least have the opportunity to see this movie again.

I was shown this movie by friends of mine who rented it and thought I would get a kick out of it. Lets just say any further recommendations by them will get screened first. I've sat back and watched several attempts at zombie comedies come and go, most of them falling flat on their face, save for the gem "Deadheads". This movie was no exception. The concept of zombies being like everyone else just slower... Sure it's somewhat fresh, but it's not entirely unique, and from what I've heard from other people, it's this movies crowning achievement in 'creativity'. Well, in entertainment, creativity will get you about as far as a boat made of bread. With painfully forced acting and situational development, I kept checking my phone for the time again and again, waiting for the credits to roll. I may have just not "GOT" the point of the movie... But it just wasn't funny, and wasn't good. Granted I've seen far worse, and it did what it could with it's budget, better than most low-rung Hollywood productions, so that's why I'm giving it a generous 4 out of 10.

AAH! ZOMBIES!! seems to be somebody's idea of a good time but I'm afraid I found it a complete dud of a film. As a zombie movie it features a couple of actors dressed in zombie make-up but they don't look or act like any kind of zombie you'll recognise. The horror content is nil and as for the comedic value, I'm afraid I didn't laugh a single time. The whole thing is cheapjack nonsense with the bare minimum of actors and talent involved.

"Wasting Away" actually surprised the life out of me, being the zombie fan that I am, I can say that, yeah! The idea behind this movie is simply put amazing, and it was really nice to see a new approach to the zombie genre. The story in itself, is fairly mediocre, having a group of teenagers turning into the living dead by ingesting some chemical compound. I will not go into further details here, as to not spoil the movie. And then you see the world from their point of view, being zombies now. The world is different and people react to the teens oddly now (at least in their eyes). Yeah, zombies are slow moving creatures, if you are fan of Romero's zombies, and these zombies are slow as well, but they perceive the world around them as if the living are running around in double speed. Great idea, new idea, but it didn't work out too well in practical use. The result was a bit too childishly comical, which I didn't really enjoy. The movie takes you on an exciting ride at a good pace, and there are few dull moments in the movie. It is nice to see parts of the movie from both the living and the zombie's point of view. As for the acting, well I think the people they had in the movie actually did good jobs, despite it being people that I was mostly unfamiliar with. And I think only a handful of the known celebrity faces would have been able to carry this movie without it having to turn into a major money-turning machine. So hats off to the actors/actresses work here in "Wasting Away". If you are a fan of zombie movies, then you should definitely add "Wasting Away" to your DVD collection, because it brings a sharp edge and a new approach to the genre of the living dead.

You will have more fun and patience watching molasses flow through an inverted egg time that used to have salt. I sadly missed some of truTV World's Dumbest Drivers 11 and missed some of the great comments by the comedian commentators, because the video I rented was due the next day. This was soooo booooring, I could not believe it. Was it made in Sudbury, Ontario. It has that Canadian feel to it. Even 2x was not fast enough, I craved for 30X fast forward. Julianna Robinson was hot throughout the film tho, and she was wearing her strappy black high heel sandals throughout the film. What was this about. Uh, some zombies got unleashed in a bowling alley because of a government experiment gone wild. How original! The plot was very, very slow and the plot was nonsensical and totally uninteresting and non compelling. Now, readers you see why he Kohen Bros. will never equal the Waylan Bros., the Cohen Bros., or the Zuckers for comedy. Wasting Away really makes you appreciate those Scary Movies and Ariplane even more. I did not give it a 1 awful, because the production values were good, nice lighting, camera work, audio, and SFX. It is too bad the crew can't get a job on a good film where their talents won't be wasted.

So - How do you spell "Aaah! Zombies!"? - B... O... R... I... N... G (to the 10th power!!) Ho-hum!!.... I don't know about you - But, for me - Zombie movies (especially these totally irksome ones that try to add a "cute" comic-twist to their story-lines) have lost their edge, completely. Hey! I ain't kidding! Not only is "Aaah! Zombies!!" absolute bottom-of-the-barrel horror - But the actors are atrociously amateur, the gore effects are b-grade (at best), and its story (as expected) is not in the least bit funny (unless, of course, you are so stoned out of your frickin' head that you'll literally laugh at just about anything). All-in-all - This is the kind of horror-movie junk-food that is best left unwatched... Believe me - It's "Yawn of the Dead"!!

Now, this is one of the very few films I have seen that is only lacking one thing: a bigger budget. Starting from a brilliant idea the Kohnens have developed a smartly silly script and translated this into a nicely paced movie. There are a few lengths but the script manages to cover them nicely while keeping the overall tone of the movie intact. I only wished the filmmakers had had a little more budget for some of the special effects (or potential effects), I'm sure we would have gotten something on the level of Jackson's 'Dead Alive', or at least 'Bad Taste' :) ... btw ... the references to this particular one are lovely ... 'We are zombies! Zombies don't run!' This was by far the best movie that I've seen at this year's 'Another Hole In The Head' festival, and I hope the Kohnens get the chance of another shot at this topic with a decent budget.

I just love new talent and new movie ideas. I was fortunate enough to be invited to the London Film Festival with friends to see this and a couple of other movies. I wasn't particularly interested in the theme of this movie, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it funny, silly and fun unlike any other I have seen. I especially was taken with the lead actress, Julianna Robinson. How can anyone that beautiful, be so funny...? I get the feeling she has a secret hidden behind that angelic face. Lots of talent budding in the cast. I'm certainly no expert when it comes to movie making, but personally I would say this team has talent and creativity just bursting at the seams. More, more!!!
