A Resistance
Korea
211 people rated Koreans fought both at home and abroad against the Japanese occupation, yearning for their nation's independence. The national protest, which lasted for at least two months beginning on March 1st, 1919, is now known as the March First Movement. The outcries of war prisoners chanting "Long Live Korean Independence. Hurrah!" soon influenced colonized civilians, resulting in a roaring chant and a wave of national flags around the streets. After returning from the capital, Yu Gwan-Sun, a young student, stirred her town to protest, leading to numerous deaths including those of her parents. Despite the loss of lives, her urge and desire to protest for freedom became her calling-not only for all Koreans but for the freedom of all people.
