Very sweet story that just reinforces the beauty and magic of small towns and the love they give. The ending was a little TOO perfect, but it was good.

If this film doesn't bring out the "onions" and leave a few wet tissues from your eyes then nothing will. This is a story of love, compassion and people helping each other. And very soft spoken. No disagreements that can't easily be ironed out. And even in real life, why can't they be?
Cancer survivor tells about her ordeal via flashback 15 years earlier at the age of 8. The focus is entirely on Vanessa and not any romantic triangles like most Hallmark Christmas films and no troublemakers, only Vanessa's cancer which the outcome seems dicey at best. Only a small number of these films contain a big American star. Sam Elliott, then 66, plays the ever helping, soft spoken and compassionate nearby neighbor, never taking a dime for anything and making a 200 mile drive to New Jersey to pick up a load of pumpkins (which would suggest this takes place in northern Massachussetts, or southern Vermont or New Hampshire) and asking nothing in return. His part knows tragedy in the loss of a child some years earlier and a friendship that went sour but is mended here. And as the film moves along it only gets better as the whole town puts up it's decorations early and a great November Christmas for Vanessa.
I get tired of Hallmark and other films of this nature being called cheesy and other things along the line. What's wrong with good things happening? Or what's wrong with characters who are always cheerful and smiling and above all, giving acts of kindness? The answer is nothing's wrong and it's more common than people think. You Tube is full of short videos with acts of kindness and other wonderful endings. It's very real.

Bring out a supply of clean hankies. This Hallmark Christmas movie is not the usual Christmas fare. Tom (John Corbett) and Beth (Sarah Paulson) are coping with their young daughter's battle with cancer. Tom comes up with the plan of speeding up Thanksgiving and Christmas just in case little Vanessa (Emily Alyn Lind) doesn't survive her battle. A quiet neighboring farmer (Sam Elliot) perceives a way to bring the whole community together to rally around to bring encouragement to the young girl. Heartwarming and sensitive with a very likable cast.

I watched this because I was looking for some hope and to get into the Christmas spirit.
The story was absolutely heartwarming and uplifting. The casting was on point. I do feel the ending was a little rushed and wish the movie had been longer, but I still loved it.

A great movie with a touching topic, believable characters, and good acting... even by the children. I watch this movie often and at other times besides Christmas.

It's Hallmark, but not a romance story. Instead it's a story about a little girl with cancer. It's about her story and her family's story and about a nearby farmer who reaches out to support the struggling family. It's a story about what some extra effort from friends and neighbors can do to ease the road for a family who has "been dealt a bad hand" as Jess tells Tom.
The elements are there that make it hard not to have a story that brings tears to your eyes. The acting and direction do what's needed to make this happen.
The ending is kind of abrupt. It's plenty teary, but makes a leap that left some things not quite complete. For example, I would have loved to know more about the waitress/writer. Also, it wasn't much of a surprise, but I wouldn't have had the result any other way.
The movie is adapted from a short story and the story in the movie is a little thin because much of the screen time is spent developing characters' feelings and relationships rather than plot twists and other devices.

BEWARE OF FALSE REVIEWS & REVIEWERS. SOME REVIEWERS HAVE ONLY ONE REVIEW TO THEIR NAME. NOW WHEN ITS A POSITIVE REVIEW THAT TELLS ME THEY WERE INVOLVED WITH THE MOVIE. IF ITS A NEGATIVE REVIEW THEN THEY MIGHT HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST THE FILM . NOW I HAVE REVIEWED OVER 200 HOLIDAY FILMS. I HAVE NO AGENDA.
A small community comes together to create special Halloween and Christmas moments several weeks early for Vanessa Marks, an 8-year- old girl with a life-threatening illness.
After the father quietly asks a neighboring farmer (Sam Elliott) about buying pumpkins - and later Christmas trees - the farmer figures out that the father is trying to speed up the holidays so that Vanessa will have one more Christmas!
To give anymore of the plot away would be a huge mistake. I will say this film captures everything in a realistic manner. All motivations from everyone seem "Realistic".
If you lost a child I think this film would be very hard to watch. However the film does show (Like In Real Life) how all of us hurt in someway! It also shows that at times "It Does Take A Village".
Have a tissue or two handy.
Great Film

We all know Christmas movies can get bad. I am sure there is plenty examples of bad Christmas movies.
Now if I asked 10 people "What is One of the worse Christmas movie you have ever seen" I will get 10 different examples.
Now if I asked the same 10 people what is the best Christmas movie you ever seen chances are they will say "November Christmas" that is if they have seen it!
A father of a "Cancer stricken child" bumps up the holidays just to cheer up her child. By doing these the father inspires his town to mend fences and that "The Christmas Spirit" does not exclusive to December.
Not to be missed!
