Other than this being a time filler (a movie to watch when you've basically exhausted all the decent horrors on Netflix) I noticed something that bugged me. It wasn't the actors being WAY too old or the other stuff mentioned in reviews. I noticed that every time the video recorded by her 'friend' each time it was played was different to what was recorded first time. I'm a bit of a continuity freak and usually it's laughable but this just added to the overall shoddy feel of the movie, that's before you consider all the other plot holes etc. Just wondering if it's just me that noticed this little goof. Would only recommend if you're a teenager or out of options and want a thriller and not a good one at that.

This was the worst movie I've watched on Netflix. Time wasted.

I liked the ending and few funny things typical for young people, except bit unreal and extreme. Makes us aware of our obsessions to phone and how they can or can not replace people. Few cool things in form of talk and revenge. Also liked that unlike in most other things that everything looked real (cat, stabbing, burning, blood). But everything else is so unexplained, unfinished, unclear, ignored, without any reason. Meaning bad story, has so much holes that makes us wonder the purpose of all the happenings. Maybe this horror is best suited for younger people or kids who believe in magic and do not ask questions. I liked that movie is about our current problems and technology, so makes it more interesting.

Initially I hadn't really expected much from "A.M.I." from director Rusty Nixon. But still, I decided to watch it when I was given the chance. And let me just say that "A.M.I." turned out to be an alternative movie which definitely broke lots of generic formulas of horror movies. And it was actually a refreshing and welcomed change of events and pace that this movie had to offer. I have to admit that I was genuinely entertained by the movie and there weren't really a dull moment throughout the story. The characters in the movie, well most of them are fairly generic and doesn't really stand out in any way, as they doesn't really display much of a backstory or have much influence on the storyline. But the lead character Cassie was quite interesting, and the combination of the character and the acting performance of Debs Howard definitely carried the movie quite well. "A.M.I." is by no means your average horror movie, and as such it might not just appeal to everyone. But I definitely think you should take the time to watch "A.M.I." if you are given the chance. It was actually a very enjoyable movie. This is more of a psychological horror movie than it is an average horror slasher or pure horror movie. I especially loved the sarcastic take that the storyline had on the youth's of today and their unhealthy addictions to their phones. That was just a stroke of genius. Six out of ten thumbs up from me for "A.M.I.".

Frankly speaking it was for me somewhat of a Black Mirror episode. I see some debate in the reviews whether this was more science fiction or horror. Myself seem to side on the Sci-Fi aspect of it but there was definitely a good amount of horror as well. The idea was fresh and choice of characters was as simple as it gets. Nothing wrong with the movie overall a quick watch to get your techno / sci-fi / Slasher fix on.

After finding out that Asylum does movies closed titled to other such productions, I've noticed this trend happening more and more in the horror industry. So, A.M.I isn't anything spectacular but has an interesting premise, a great a-la Carpenter soundtrack and that's about it. The rest sadly comes as generic as possible, and misses every mark out there. Perhaps there was room for more, but I fail to see how and where, because the plot is over stretched from start and just lingers and lingers. I wish I had more better things to say about it, but sadly I will not recommend it. It's too much out there, trying but failing to deliver anything new or captivating in its own way. Cheers!

Pulled the plug from the moment she harmed the cat. Have to wonder if producers are psychopaths themselves :(

This movie features an absolutely egregious scene in which the main character finds a healthy stray cat and after lovingly holding it and petting it, she puts the cat in a choke hold and starts to squeeze the life out of it, as the camera lovingly zooms in on the cat's terror. Many seconds later (it felt like over a minute) she realizes what she's doing, stops and releases the cat. This was the most despicable depiction of animal torture I've ever seen in a movie. It wasn't needed, or they could have panned away while she commited the atrocious act. Netflix should have had a warning before the movie started that there was cat torture in the movie. Yes, I know it was fake, but it was still a sick, unwarranted scene in an otherwise awful movie that will only give the crazies out there a blueprint to work from. Disgusting.

Saw 'A.M.I' mainly because the premise was really interesting and sounded very unsettling, one of the better premises for any recent film in my opinion. It was also interesting due to it seeming to raise awareness for the negative effects of obsessive cellphone and technological use, a very much current issue and always worth addressing (should be addressed more actually). It was also a film that actually looked like it wasn't made on the cheap. Will say that 'A.M.I' does have its good elements and doesn't completely squander its premise, did fear it would having seen a lot of potential wastes recently and getting quite tired of it. Do think though that it could have done much more with it though and that it should have been a much better film than it turned out. What could have been something intriguing and decent, and oh my goodness it could have been that easily, turned out instead to be a valiant semi-failure in my view due to such messy storytelling. Beginning with the good, 'A.M.I' visually looks as though effort was put into it and it didn't look cheap, some atmospheric style and some clever camera angles here. The editing perhaps could have been tighter, but generally didn't have much of a problem with the film visually. Cassie was a lead character worth rooting for and wasn't a dull obnoxious stereotype that is common with characters in similar films. Music does unsettle and didn't over-emphasise, or at least it didn't to me. The acting was surprisingly acceptable, with Debs Howard being more than up to the task in the lead role and Veronica Hampson steals her scenes without being annoying. Other than Cassie though, the characters are somewhat ordinary and more could have been done with them. The script generates little personality, let alone tension, is awkward and with so little explained it came over as vague as well. It is the story that wrecks 'A.M.I', other than some interesting questions raised and a nice element of sarcasm directed at technological addiction and the younger generation that could have featured more actually, it is a mess. There isn't enough creepiness and the suspense and thrills aren't there, ruined too by some very lazy and easily avoidable errors and too much being under-explored and lacking in sense that it becomes one big muddle. Concluding, great premise but underwhelming execution of it. 4/10

For a B movie I think this film is brightly lit, professionally shot, and moves at a fairly swift pace. The audio wasn't great, I had to turn my sound up to hear the dialogue clearly. The premise is timely, we are all increasingly dependent on our phones and AI is slowly taking over all of our lives. Ok, enough of the compliments, folks. The dialogue is dumb and very thin. The lead actress, Debs Howard (Cassie) is an attractive woman but looks wayyyy too old to be in high school. Her performance is wooden and that's a problem because she is in virtually every scene and has to carry the movie. We don't get enough story on the her character to really care about her. We don't know learn enough about her illness, her relationship to her mother, her bond to her best friend and alleged boyfriend to really care about how things end up. I wound up cheering more for the creepy boyfriend, Liam, just because he was so over the top in his creepishness. What we get is the usual revenge fantasy deaths of a bunch of unlikable people. I kept watching out of amusement. How dumb are things going to get? Answer, very dumb. If you are into the one-by-one killing off thing you might find this film entertaining. There are attempts to at humor in some of the death scenes. The bottom line is that this film is not scary and not deep on any psychological level. It might have been better if they played things totally for laughs, like in the amusing last scene, but taken as a straight horror movie, bleh! If by chance your phone ever starts telling you to kill people it's time to get a new phone.
