So let's start of with the fact that this is a movie with zero agenda, whatsoever, other than to have fun. The movie isn't supposed to be serious and you're not expected to take it seriously. If you take yourself and/or life too seriously, you are not going to like this movie.
OK, now that that is out of the way... at the beginning of this movie, I was thinking, "what am I watching!?" But as it progressed, I found myself enjoying it more and more.
Yes, the characters are quirky, which I like. The girl is uninterested in the blind date, and I'm pretty sure most anybody would have been. Yeah, the guy tries way too hard, but the reason for that is explained later on. Sure, the story line is bizarre, but like I said... it's called entertainment, not education. The guy's idea to try and "fix" the situation is beyond unbelievable - as in not scientifically believable at all - and I even pointed this out while we were watching it - but... and I cannot stress this enough... IT'S ENTERTAINMENT!!!
The fact that it's an Australian movie, well... that just cinches it, then, doesn't it? :) If you want a good date night movie where you can escape the realities of life for an hour or so; If you want a good laugh without having to constantly be thinking deep thoughts.... give this movie a shot. You won't be sorry... then came back and give it a review!

Generally I like Australian cinema, there have been some truly ground-breaking, funny and clever films from "down under". Bad Boy Bubby, Romper Stomper, Chopper, The Little Death...
Wow, what a gem The Little Death was... this contrasts horribly. No chemistry between the two leads whatsoever, the guy just seemed uncomfortable on camera (truly odd) and Kerith Atkinson seems to suck any potential for humour out the room.
There's space-aliens or something and the everyone's disappeared and these two personality vacuums roam around a city murdering any potential for comedy...
...and so, I watched that first half hour and switched if off, I still feel cheated by that lost half hour.

Bonzer funny original film well made and cast play brilliantly off of each other. Simple idea that is well thought out and well executed.
Some great laughs and touching scenes a funny gem well worth watching for anyone who likes a laugh and some romance
Brisbane comes alive while never being more empty in this fun film.
Do yourself a favour and go watch this Aussie gem and help support the hard working cast and crew, so they can continue making quality films like this pearler.
Thanks for reading my poorly written review hope anyone reading it has a bottler of a year.

As some other reviewers have commented, this movie starts out a little rough. However, it's worth pushing through the cringe of all-too-relatable awkwardness, assuming you're not looking for a serious film.
It's wacky, there are hijinks, there are dumb Australian jokes and references you won't understand unless you grew up here, and there's romance. Sure, the science behind the premise is extremely questionable, but it's a rom-com, folks. It's not trying to be accurate, it's trying to tell a funny story about two humans experiencing character development - and it does that really well.
The two movies are completely different, but if you enjoyed Palm Springs (and its wacky romance set in improbable circumstances) you'll probably like this too.
