6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain

I generally enjoy these kinds of films but 6 Below failed miserably. It had all the necessary elements excluding a lead character that I couldn't have cared less about. It was bland and spent too much time living in the past. This one was not for me.

This true survival story probably should have contained more of an emotional punch because it is a remarkable tale. However, the filmmakers here appear content on more of a slow burn approach to retelling former pro hockey player and meth addict, at the time, Eric LeMarque's 8 days of hell lost on a snowy mountainside in Winterhaven. Combined with numerous depressing flashbacks, throughout the movie, depicting LeMarque's troubled life it all added up for me as not the easiest watch. However,as you might guess from the title it does have a poignant ending, and the clips at the film's conclusion of the real Eric LeMarque and what he has done with his life offer an inspiring message of receiving and taking advantage of a second chance in life

OMG whomever funded this movie wasted their money. This was pianful at its best. Josh Hartnet gets reviewed for his acting?!?! but i spent the entire movie barracking for Nature to take him oput and make it painful.

Environment of high mountains and untouched nature is beautiful to watch. Scenes from childhood and youth have been done with a cheap blur effect. These flashbacks are very poorly done. One flashback is enough to understand the point of the story. Their dismissal with the action of the film gained some other role. They do not talk about the main character, but only breaks the monotony that occurs with long scenes in the wilderness mountains. One of the best things in the film is the choice of the actor and his work. Josh is realistic and is perfect for this role. The true story is for every respect. It's really astonishing what a man can survive.

The story is inspiring & a good message but the thing that destroy this movie is the style of remembering the past & How did they track him ,if he uses FM radio as a receiver? am curious to know what drove his father out of the house? why he didn't get to the top when he was lost the 1ST DAY? Mira Sorvino is only 11 years older than Harnett...How can she be his mother in the movie?

I really wanted to enjoy this movie, but my gosh, the pace is awfully slow. I can enjoy movies without all the top notch stars and CGI effects because it's the storyline of the drama & acting that I'm observing, but this was just a good ol' snore fest. The story is one of those inspirational "finding yourself and not giving up" and I usually really like those sort of true stories but I just couldn't get into this. I remember looking up and it had finished; Couldn't really recall what had happened. It was boring, unfortunately.

you will be able to tell soon enough that this true story has a good ending if you know nothing about the main character and it is worth watching. i recommend it for the reasons of the choices he made that saved his life and the love of his mother that did not give up and as well as he did not give up with all the way to his last conscious moment. sometimes when we accept our life choice, we forgive ourselves and make peace, the miracle happens.

I'm a big fan of films that teach you lessons and survival against all odds, but for some reason this film fell somewhat flat. It's not in the league of Everest or other mountain survival epics. Maybe it's that the protagonist is so idiotic in that typical American over-emotional way. Over celebrating small victories and screaming and crying over set backs. Have a bit more stiff upper lip old chap. You're probably not going to 'kick nature's ass'. Going down a double black diamond run late in the day with a storm rolling in surely isn't a great choice. Follow the lift down? The cut scenes were annoying and seemed filler as basically it is very hard to tell a story with one character, but it's been done very well more than once. To sum up; it's the kind of film I like. but it's just not made that well. Ideal for a long-haul flight time-killer.

This is one of those movies which teaches you a lesson: never take life for granted. Athletes and people who love outdoor activities will love this movie because what happened to Eric could happen to any of us. You may say that Eric was a bit arrogant in overestimating himself but we all do it. There are very few movies out there which actually make you understand how important and precious life is: this is one of them. Excellent acting by the protagonist and his mother in particular, good music and breathtaking scenery.

In my opinion this movie was desperate for content and lacking intelligence to the point of underestimating my own. Aimo Koivunen's story would have been a better choice for content of a film on this subject and includes survival meth. Aimo's story, which makes 6 below pale in comparison, indicates anything "extraordinary" could be attributed to meth. What can also be attributed to meth is the main characters entire predicament, who is eventually desperately rescued by National Guard. I found none of this heroic or inspiring. An additional slap in the face is the movie makes no mention of National Guard and instead, when faced with a movie devoid of pretty girls takes the artistic liberty to replace all that with a single pretty girl. I feel the film may have taken multiple artistic liberties to create content to the point it was hard to take seriously. character interactions where so stupid it was hard to watch at times. The true story is the protagonist was an idiot, graciously handed a second chance at life and refuses to let that act go in vain. This movie p#@#3 all over that and tries to spin a story of heroism that is so thin it's translucent bordering on endorsement of meth, which just about every military in the world also endorses. Don't take my word for it ask Aimo. I eat my scabs for fun.
