From the opening death scene to the wonderfully deranged end credits Field of Screams is definitely a must see for any horror fan. Not the best storyline ever but to be honest the main reason I was there was to see what twisted sights of gore would be projected onto the big screen from the mind of the devilishly imaginative Tim Sullivan, (Who was also kind enough to take the time to speak to us before and after the movie, and also let me cut in the line for autographs because I "really had to pee" *sorry to anyone I cut ha ha :P*) I was lucky enough to see this at Glasgow Frightfest at the GFT before the censors got to it so may have caught some scenes that will never again be viewed by the human eye. As the detour sign has been moved and no longer any northerners finding their way into Pleasant Valley, Mayor Buckman (Bill Mosley doing a wonderful job of sickening up the Role and replacing Robert Englund) packs up cannibalistic chums and sets off on a travelling Jamboree to round up the Yankees still left to pay... A crew and cast filming a reality TV show (think Paris Hilton simple life) break down and stumble across the deranged troupe... I can't really comment much more as don't want to spoil it for the rest of you guys but the duration of the movie is filled with more bloodthirsty laughs and sickeningly awesome politically incorrectness. The highlight of the film for myself was definitely the stylishly twisted Lyn Shaye's reprisal of Granny Boone... she is one amazingly open minded woman. Although it didn't pack as much of a punch and was a lot more slapstick than the first Maniacs film it is definitely one to watch and I would recommend buying the DVD, (unless you are easily offended as this pretty much rips the hell out of everyone or don't have a strong stomach).... Fingers crossed the censors don't cut too much out. Lets hope that Tim comes up with some more lovely tales in the future to Rise The South Again...

Tim Sullivan has one of the most sickest senses of humor of anyone I know. I met Tim when he was a teenager and acting as a guardian to enable to him to see numerous horror "grindhouse" films on 42nd Street, I must share a little of the responsibility for the man who grew up to make films that gore fans love to see. Tim has made a film that will offend ninety percent of the people on earth. The other ten percent should see 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams! .... Heck! ...Even if you are easily offended, you should see the film and you will laugh at the jokes that don't anger you. Having just seen a DVD of the film with Tim and his family and about twenty of his friends, I feel this film should be seen with an audience of people who enjoy seeing splatter films. See it with as many friends as you can. This film would be perfect for midnight showings and could easily reach a cult status. When you buy the video, invite friends over and have a "Maniacs" party! For the people who are disappointed that several of the original cast had been replaced or left out....don't be. Not once during the film did I think that "this would be better if Robert Englund was playing Mayor Buckman". Bill Moseley played the character so well, that in one scene, I could see no one else other than Mr. Moseley doing the part. Tim's muse, Lin Shaye takes her character to another level and is excellent as always. I've seen many splatter films, and there are not many deaths on film that can shock me. When Nivek Ogre prepares to eliminate one of the victims, I thought, "No! ....Tim is NOT going to show this!!! "....but he did. I felt a little guilty of laughing at the violence I saw, but if you enjoy the cartoon violence of an Itchy & Scratchy short, you will enjoy this. Tim used $400,000 and made a better film than most filmmakers could, if they had a budget of 4 million. Imagine the film that Tim could make if he had a budget of 40 million! Someday, I know that Tim will make that film. Watching 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams is like being on a roller coaster to hell.... and loving it!

I saw this at Glasgow Frightfest and although it wasn't completely ready(the lip sync was a little off), I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was obviously completely tongue in cheek with as much corn as possible(and I mean that in more ways than one, shame on you granny boone).I didn't enjoy it as much as the first one which laid down the background and paved the way for the sequels (hopefully.) Tim Sullivan came to the screening and was a really nice man though clearly deranged,he took time to talk to me and my son and even posed for a photo ,which unfortunately didn't turn out. I hope he continues with the maniacs ,let's face it there is another 1,984 Yankees still to pay the price.

Just saw this film last night in the IFI Dublin...it was just as Tim Sullivan promised...absolutely insane!! A gore fest of the most fun and foul!! Having been bored to tears with the recent offerings in the horror genre's other franchises and remakes this is a refreshing take on an abused cinematic model!! I know many would have gone expecting a straight slasher or torture * as that is the direction that everyone else has gone in...but we have finally been given a chance to look at the absurdity of these other films and get to watch something that pokes fun at itself and just about everyone else!! It offends and sickens in ways most could only dream of... He throws out plot in favor of gore filled skits and slickly choreographed comedic/bloody musical numbers!! I can't even remember the last film that made me laugh so much and offended me in all the right ways!! It was a visceral pleasure and viscosity high on my horror-o-meter!!! Plus, knowing he shot it on a small(in Hollywood terms) budget is just inspiring for film students all over!! So, essentially this film is perfect for any genre fan, any comedy lover...or anyone who just wants some fun nudity or give a bold and bloody two fingers to the predictable torture * filling our screens!!

Bloody good fun! Saw this in the IFI in Dublin a few days ago. It certainly brightened my mood! Kudos to Tim, Bill, Ogre (the legend!) and the rest of the cast and crew. Story was humorous, gore was OTT in a good way and the performances were solid. Doesn't take itself seriously and why should it? There are enough pointlessly cruel horror films out there where this focuses on the humour. If you want to laugh, smile, giggle then laugh some more look no further!

Went to the premiere of this film in Sheffield UK in a quaint little cinema filled with two dozen people and director Tim Sullivan. The film starts with a real coy comic book sequence/opening titles that almost takes you back to Romero's Creepshow and Sullivan brilliantly continues this homage further in the film with over the top laughs, over the top gore and over the top acting to give one hell a throwback to those beautifully laden horrors of years gone by. Many questioned whether or not the film could be as good with Englund being replaced by the very talented Bill Mosely. The answer is yes. Bill brings a different Buckman to the table, and this kind of sets the tone for the entire film, it really is Tim Sullivan's film, how complete vision unleashed and one kind of hopes that he will be able to go back to 2001 Maniacs and re-cut it in the way he wanted it. This filmmaker has proved over three films he is capable at directing and writing something crafty and genius and not merely copying every other filmmaker in remaking every god damned horror film, but taking a forgotten classic and then making it his own. If the first film delighted you with gore and nudity, then this film will certainly please you with OTT on gore and nudity for the men and the ladies alike. Tim Sullivan is a filmmaker you want to be watching. Believe me there's more great stuff to come.

As I really enjoyed Tim Sullivan's 2005 remake '2001 Maniacs', I foolishly thought this would have the same fun set pieces and wacky script. However it is devoid of any real gore, the acting is wooden, and the script so poorly written. I was forced to hit the fast forward, which is something I rarely do. The real shame is that does have actors like Lin Shaye and Bill Moseley going to waste. It's easy to maybe cite a reduced budget or external factors, but it's hard to make excuses for this turkey. I'd avoid unless your a real masochist.

I watched this in the London premiere and I was, as expected, glued to my seat. The movie was very colourful and had the entire audience laughing through some moments (in a very good way). As for the murders and maniacs....they were unique and crazy, just how we love them and VERY graphic. It isn't a scary film but it is not intended to be, it was nice to see a lot of the cast from the original movie back again and even more amazing to see Bill Moseley and Ogre (Skinny Puppy) back working together after Repo! The Genetic Opera. It had the perfect balance of humour, gore and insults which just added to the humour. A must see for any maniac loving gore seeking film buff!

I caught a screening of this movie in London, I wouldn't like to give too many details away but gore-hounds and horror-fiends are in for a real treat here. As this film delivers just as much crazy over the top violence, nudity and side splitting laughs then 2001 Maniacs! Bill Mosley replaces Robert Englund this time around and does a terrific job in portraying Mayor Buckman. The spectacular Lin Shaye gives another hilarious and insane performance as Granny Boone. Nivek Ogre (of Skinny Puppy) rocks! as Harper Alexander. Christa Campbell returns as the seductive and radiant Milk Maiden. Adam Robitel reprises his role as the sheep loving Lester and Ryan Fleming is back as the kitty killing maniac Hucklebilly. This film is a horror fans wet dream, with great musical numbers and a totally awesome cast. It's not for the squeamish nor the easily offended (as it pokes fun at pretty much everyone!) But if you have a strong stomach and a wacky sense of humour, you'll have one hell of a ride watching 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams!

Train wreck of a film and before the hate mail starts - no budget is no excuse - I could have done a hell of a lot more with 400 grand (any takers :) The film looked like it was shot on video (HD is fine but needs to be graded properly) thrown together in about a week or so and featured some truly diabolical performances. The only saving grace and giggle this crap got out of me was from the fabulous Lin Shaye (who was slumming here) and Bill Mosely please get your agents to read the scripts before doing the films - YOU deserve so much better than this - sheesh - and I enjoyed the first one. It's independent efforts like this one that are going to sink the indie horror scene not re-invigorate it. Unfortunately due to the offensive nature of most scenes it'll probably make a good return on investment and there'll probably be a third but for God's sake at least work with a script that doesn't seem like it was written on the back of a piece of toilet paper, and hire an editor who can grade your picture properly. A wasted opportunity.
