The movie definitely has charm and a very good message to say, but could have been better. positive points - performances of all three actors - Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and Jimit Trivedi, good concept, few good moments negative points - songs were okay, story could have been a bit better, average direction for a good concept over all a one time watch for big b, chintu fans.

That movie uses the formlula from movie Anand of Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachannan. And even ended in the same manner in Anand Rajesh Khanna left a recorded message, which got played after his dead, and in this movie Amitabh left the message to be played after his death, in Anand Amitabh played the role of a serious doctor and Rajesh played the role of a patient who knew he would die so he enjoys life to its fullest, in this movie Rishi played the role of a serious character and Amitabh played the role of a dying person who enjoys the life.. so yeah it seems like this movie copied a lot of things from Anand.

Imagine a 102 year old father wanting to send his 75 year old son to a senior citizen home because his son's 'old' attitude is keeping him from becoming the oldest man in history. It's a genuinely novel plot that one doesn't come across often. I enjoy gentle movies and for the most part '102 Not Out' is charming enough to keep a smile on your face during its relatively short running time. The story, as you've already gathered, is about Dattatraya Vakharia who refuses to die until life is ripped from his body. He's a young at heart father who believes in living life to the fullest and his grumpy 75 year old son, Babulal, is the only thing standing in his way. They're joined in their daily squabbles by a young shop clerk who cannot seem to get enough of the duo's banter. It's a simple tale of years lived and forgotten, hearts broken and mended, and life as it was and as it is. The first half is a delightful breeze with Vakharia Senior trying to infuse some excitment into his sour son. Humor is aplenty and you'll laugh out loud at several occasions. Post interval things take a turn for the serious and go down Baghban lane. Feelings are on the emotionally manipulative side and what started off brilliantly becomes a tad routine. Nevertheless, there's enough to like in this film largely due to its terrific leads. Amitabh Bachchan is excellent as the joyous father who believes in keeping things light. Mujhe marne se sakht nafrat hai, he says mischievously. Mr. Bachchan continues to surprise and impress. The years have only made him better. Is there anything he can't do? Rishi Kapoor is perfect as the ill-tempered son who, as we learn, has many reasons to be bitter. It's a nuanced and real performance. The two actors share a remarkable chemistry that's proof that talent can outlive everything. Umesh Shukla's direction is crisp and keeps the film from dragging. He's helped immensely by Saumya Joshi who has written this as well as the original Gujarati play the story is based on. Some clever dialogues, particularly the ones in the love letter scene, are hysterical. The music is easy on the ears and flows nicely in the narrative. Bachche ki Jaan Loge Kya is a hoot! The biggest winner, still, is the concept. Full points for originality, Mr. Joshi. This is a soft spoken movie that'll tug at your heartstrings. Some forced tears aside, you'll cherish your time with these old folk who'll make you laugh, cry, and remind you to live while you can. Life is short...even if you're over a century old. https://stuffiwatchblog.wordpress.com/

A novel concept which could have really hit it home, had the writers been slightly smarter. Loved the lighting of the set and one could guess whether it was a sad or a happy scene with just one shot because of the setting they were in. One the whole family could watch together, and really well done by both the thespians here, especially Rishi Kapoor.

102 Not out.. once upon a time there was a father and son. The father was 102 years old and son was 75. The father had a wish that he has to die as the oldest person on earth and in order to survive that much, the father decided to keep himself away from his son. He decides to send his son to old age home. The son after hearing this went into a shock and accepted 6 conditions which his father told him to fulfil in order to live in that house. Those 6 conditions and their fulfilment is the story of this film. All the six conditions are so unnecessary that you will feel why this father is doing this to his child why can't they live happily. And at the end of the film when father tells his son the reasons that as to why he put these conditions the first thing you will feel is ? wow so new! We weren't knowing that.. below average.

Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor did an amazing acting. The writing of this movie was incredible. Amitabh Bachchan plays the character of an 102 year old man. His goal is to beat the record for longest living male, whereas Rishi Kapoor is an angry old man who plays as Amitabh Bachchans 76 year old son. The movie isn't about the record it's about a father and sons relationship. The ending was sad as Amitabh Bachchan dies in the end of the movie, because of brain tumour. Overall it's a good movie. I give this movie a 9/10

Amitabh jii hats off! This film is all about what is life and how the modern age childrens are ! Life is about to enjoy each and every moment and we don't have to be sad and creepy for our age is happening ! Stop to take medicines and start to roaming , " Don't die when you alive " this tag line is simply enough for this film !

Simply a boring Hindi movie. I was able to watch until the end because I put the video at a fast speed. Otherwise, I would not get there. Bollywood has many good movies and this truly is not one of them. Do not waste your time with this crap. I was kind enough to give this rating. I could have given an even lower rating.

102 NOT OUT REVIEW : I had seen the original drama on which this film is based so obviously i knew everything about script and i didn't need to watch the film but as a movie buff i prepared myself to see how cinematic version turns out. Despite being predictable/seen story to me, this film ended up as a 'Classic' for me then just imagine how much someone will like it who hasn't seen the drama. 102 Not Out is not only a Brilliant Film but also a Life Lesson to everyone. Story is very interesting and unique, every cinema lover is always ready to see something new and this film is gives you that something new and very interesting theme. Amitabh Bachchan has nailed his role and i believe he deserves some respectable awards for this mind-blowing performance. Rishi Kapoor has done excellent job, he completely suits for that 75 years old guy's role. His voice, expression, body language is just wow. Other cast is okay. Screenplay is tight and engaged, throughout. Runtime of 107 minutes is so perfect and may be that's why film doesn't look boring for a single moment. Cinematography is Average, as i feel scenes in the house, mumbai roaming scenes, nature could have been captured in better way. Music is Decent, this script does not have a place for songs but come on it's a Film, not a drama so anyhow director gonna put some songs for sure, and it was unnecessary. Dialogues are Good, few are so meaningful so does memorable. Direction is Very Good, film has some lose scenes in the first half but thank god Umesh Shukla has covered the loss in second half and especially in the climax otherwise a Classic script would have gone in vain. Overall, 102 Not Out is Close to Classic Tag, i'm 90% calling it a Classic but 10% unsure because of some mistakes in the first half. Still, somewhere climax has hit the right chords so yes This One is A Classic. A Must Watch for all generation audience. I would have loved to go with 7.5/10* but it's not available on IMDb so yes 8/10* for this one and thumbs up for the team.
